Every incident ARGUS creates gets a risk score from 0 to 100. The score is a quick read on how seriously to take an incident: the higher the number, the more likely it is that something genuinely needs your attention. The score blends several signals ARGUS observes in the video — things like how a person interacts with merchandise and bags, how long they linger, and whether items change or disappear. You don’t need to tune any of this; ARGUS calculates the score for you on every incident.

Risk levels

To make scores easy to act on, ARGUS groups them into three levels. These are the same levels you’ll see in your dashboard and in the in-app help.

High — 70 to 100

Immediate attention needed. These are the incidents most likely to be a real threat, and they’re the ones that trigger alerts.

Medium — 40 to 69

Worth a look. Review these when you have a moment to confirm whether anything happened.

Low — under 40

Informational. ARGUS noticed something but it’s unlikely to be a concern.

Why high-risk incidents matter most

High-risk incidents (70 and above) are the ones ARGUS alerts you about. When an incident reaches this level, ARGUS notifies your chosen recipients by SMS and email so the right people know right away — even if no one is watching the dashboard. Medium and low incidents stay in your dashboard for review but don’t send alerts by default.
The risk score reflects what’s happening in the video. Separately, activity that occurs overnight or outside normal operating hours may be given extra attention — so an after-hours incident is more likely to land in the high range. You can set your business hours in Settings so the system knows when your store is normally open.
