# Glossary

> Key ARGUS terms defined.

This glossary defines the key ARGUS terms you'll see across the dashboard and these docs.

**Incident**
A moment ARGUS flags because the activity on your cameras looks risky and worth
your attention. Each incident has a risk score, a camera, a time, and a short
summary. See [Understanding incidents](/incidents/understanding-incidents).

**Risk score**
A number from **0 to 100** that tells you how seriously to take an incident,
grouped into **High (70+)**, **Medium (40–69)**, and **Low (under 40)**. See
[Risk scores explained](/incidents/risk-scores).

**Recipient**
A person who receives alerts. You can add recipients for **SMS** (a phone number)
and **email**, and turn each one on or off. See
[Alerts & notifications](/incidents/alerts-notifications).

**Agent**
The small ARGUS app that runs on an always-on computer in your store. It sees your
cameras on the local network and streams them to ARGUS for analysis — no new
hardware required. See [Add a camera](/cameras/add-a-camera).
